Nonviolent Communication Training

Who benefits from training in Nonviolent Communication?

This training is meant for everyone who wants to experience what it is like to communicate in a connective and effective way.

With Nonviolent Communication you are aware of what is happening inside of you during tricky situations with others, but also with yourself. You are also willing to discover difficult or painful behaviour of others. Understanding for each other is what follows. It seems impossible sometimes, but it is not!

If you want self development and are looking for connection and deepening in your relationship with others, this Nonviolent Communication training is for you.

By training with a small group of participants, emotional safety is experienced. The exercises are done both individually and with several participants. The small group offers a lot of personal attention from the trainer; it is an optimal situation to learn.

The participants experience a lot of depth because Thera Balvers is able to translate their words to motivations and use these motivations as teaching material. Thera’s expertise and lifetime experience with both individual coaching as well as group training, guarantee personal development and growth.

What is Nonviolent Communication?

Nonviolent Communication makes you aware of what is alive in you and what is hidden behind the sometimes difficult or painful behaviour of others. The awareness enables you to understand the intention behind your reaction and the reaction of the other person. Alignment with the intention brings you harmony and connection.

In the Nonviolent Communication training, we get to know the four basic principles: observation, feeling, need and request. Subsequently we learn to apply them in communication with ourselves and others. The training delivers the following results:

  • Self-compassion: discovering what is alive underneath your judgements and learning to look at this with softness;
  • Inner peace and balance: experiencing that your body and mind are relaxed;
  • Compassion for others: learning to have understanding for the intention of the other;
  • Connection with the other: expressing yourself in a clear and pure way and hearing the other;
  • Progress and development: learning to take responsibility for what you need;
  • Spiritual growth: becoming connected to your inner source and starting to live from this connection

For participants and other interested parties the list of feelings and needs as used during training are available to download here.

What do the participants say?

"Thanks again for the past two days. It had been a long time since I was a participant... and like I said, it does not automatically suit me, not least because of experiences with trainers that did not know how to create a safe environment for learning. For me, you created a very safe environment - else I would not have done what I did... Your combination of working person-to-person, together with the professionality I experienced, was very nice. So inspiring for me... Happy to join again in September!"

Arri

"Most of my insights often come afterwards; during the training I just did not realise how much I learned. Therefore I have not shared such with you then. I still like to do this, so here it is: afterwards I became aware of all the things I learned during the two days, it was mainly your approach as a trainer that inspired me, also the group who asked so many questions, from which I have learned and where your knowledge and experience stood out even more, because of this way of handling I could learn even more."

What are the options in Nonviolent Communication Training?

Bellow here you can notice the several Nonviolent Communication trainings. In the calendar you can see upcoming trainings. If you are interested but the date does not suit you, you can send me a message and I will keep you informed of upcoming trainings.

Introduction Training

The Introduction Training is meant for everyone who wants to experience what it is like to communicate in a connective and effective way. We learn to communicate without judging and become aware of our own feelings and needs. This is the first step in taking responsibility and care for yourself.
We will develop compassion for ourselves and for others and will try to understand the good intentions of others. You will practise with honest and respectful expression and how to transform demands into requests.

In-Depth Training 1

This training is for everyone who wants to use Nonviolent Communication in a natural way. You learn to communicate in a connecting way, even in difficult situations. We deepen your ability to listen what is truly alive in the other person (empathic listening) and to honestly and respectfully express yourself to the other, also practising with tricky situations. This way you learn to take responsibility and care for yourself, even with counterplay. Instead of settling for a compromise, we will be looking for a win-win situation.

In-Depth Training 2

The training is meant for the ones who have already been involved with Nonviolent Communication and want to learn to stay in connection with themselves and others in really difficult situations, where one might be deeply affected. We will deal with the theory behind self-empathy, empathic listening and honest expression of feelings and needs. There will be an explanation about the cognitive and emotional brain and the scientific coherence with the body.
We will walk the ‘Street of Self-empathy’, to create self-connection in confronting situations. This ‘Street of Self-empathy’ is a form of practise based on the Nonviolent Communication Dancefloors. You will also practise with an angry person, to move between ‘listening what is alive in the other’ and ‘honestly expressing the bothering piece that is alive in me’ in conversations. This way you can stay in connection with both yourself and the other person.

Why do we use different rates?

We indeed use different rates.

Our goal is to stimulate people to participate in Nonviolent Communication trainings. We have chosen to work with a gliding scale, so the price will not be too steep for private individuals. Private persons have to pay for themselves and do not have beneficial possibilities, for example, to deduct the amount from their taxes. We want to support them financially by keeping the rates low. Private individuals do not need an invoice.

Self-employed persons are charged a bit more, they do receive an invoice to use in their accounting. Because of their rebates, self-employed persons end up with a similar investment to private individuals.

Companies and organizations receive an invoice in the name of their company. Their contribution supports the participation of individuals, who can be charged less because of this. Companies and organizations also have a budget for education and they can deduce the costs for training. If you have any questions about this, we request you to contact us.

What do the participants say?

"Wonderful how you 'manage' all the little things that are going on and all the processes. Admiration! Wow! Such alertness and overview. And also at ease and with space for laughing ;-). I liked how you dealt with my being overstimulated. Enough safety and yet in my own power. Yes, really a wonderful learning experience. Nothing is swiped under the carpet. Noticing the smallest details. Connecting, again and again. I think I hear a tremble in your voice. And when I hear this, I feel touched. Cool! Lovely inspiration."

The Introduction Training was very inspiring. I am grateful that I got to know you and the way you offer ‘Nonviolent Communication’. To my opinion it is very valuable that, by offering these trainings, you make a ‘different’ sound, and contribute to a more ‘peaceful’ society. I want to join in; this way of commitment is important to me as well. What touched me especially in the training, was how my ‘survival strategy’ (in my case ‘freezing’) has had so much impact on my life and still has, and how NVC offers me a different path. Very hopeful.
